Power and backup supply

Power is not a side package. It is the condition of everything else.

Business line — Konect Power Systems

Dominant constraint
Power settled before the equipment it carries

The problem

A system is never worth more than the power that carries it.

A security system that is off watches nothing, a dark supervision room sees nothing, a business server without power delivers no service. A loss of supply produces exactly the effect of a failure in the system itself, and it happens more often.

The design follows from that: establish the load balance, separate what must hold from what can be shed, then size the replacement source on the first of those two sets. We then install and maintain the resulting installation.

Backup power chain, schematic

01Public grid
Normal source, whose availability cannot serve as a design assumption.
02Generator set
Replacement source, sized on the load assessment and its growth allowance.
03Automatic transfer switch
Switches over without human intervention, with a delayed return to the grid.
04Main low-voltage board
Protection, discrimination and separation of critical and ordinary feeders.
05UPS
Covers the generator start-up window, during which no source is supplying.
06Critical loads
Supervision, security, servers and links whose loss is an incident.
07Ordinary loads
Sheddable feeders, whose interruption carries no operational consequence.

The marked points are reported to supervision: grid presence, source state, fuel level, engine hours and load-test results.

Schematic. No rating, no equipment and no real installation appears on it.Typical sizing figures, not measured on an installation. The transfer time covers generator start-up and load acceptance; the UPS autonomy covers that window, plus a clean shutdown if the generator fails to start.

Services

What we deliver

Load assessment and sizing
Power balance, diversity factors, growth allowance, and the split between critical and sheddable loads.
Generator sets
Supply, civil works for the base, acoustic housing, fuel tank, ventilation and exhaust. The rating follows from the load assessment, not from a catalogue.
Automatic transfer switching
Transfer panels, protection, discrimination, earthing and delayed return to the grid.
UPS and autonomy
Cover for the generator start-up window, autonomy for critical loads, battery replacement on cycle.
Integration with supervision
Telemetry, alarms, fuel level, engine hours, results of periodic load tests.
Maintenance
Preventive and corrective contracts, parts, load testing, operating log.

Let us discuss the actual scope.

Describe the site, the dominant constraint and the deadline. We will say what requires a preliminary study and what can be committed directly.
